EA Tools Brief

At highlevel all of the tools are doing Enterprise Architecture in different flavours, comparable to each other
Essential - It is primarily EA dashboard portal with lot of CIO insights          - It is available in open source, cloud and onpremises versions          - Over 130+ reports available out of the box          - Very flexible interms of EA meta models.Avolution AbacusIt is a thickclient based enterprise architecture modelling tool pre dominantly used for defining your own EA meta model and design all architecture diagrams using drag and drop designer. You can also do roundtriping using excel based templates. It has a powerful base meta model and a browser based interface for read only dashboards, catalogues etc.Almost any part of the EA elements whether it is business, application, data / information, infrastructure .technology attributes already given out of the box you just have to select and de select according to your organisation specifc needs. Administrator will have full control over various parts of meta models and levels, attributes, types, access etc.The beauty of this tool is that it can generate any architecture diagrams based on the data and relationships that we capture and import to this tool. Very unique.




LeanIX    - It is an enterprise architecture workbench platform, where all architects,business analysts collaborate easily.          - It is available only as SAAS version.          - It has numerous templates and a simple market place for several integrationsOrbus IServer    It is one of the unique Enterprise Architecture Platform / Tool which has the capability to store all architecture artifacts, like documents, visio files, etc And it also provide an ability to import data from all Microsoft format files like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Share Point. It has a robus document library management part of the tool, which is again has two components one is a thick client design tool and an integrated web solution for dashboards/reports.

ChangePoint  - It is primarily a Project Portfolio Management Tool and it has EA modules - includes Contract Management,etc                  If we see EA is PMO (Project Management Office), then this has that edge                  Its approach is based on scorecards, rules, info graphics interms of insights.
Alfabet - Full fledged EA tool, 1000 ready to use templates does all that we do in Essential/LeanIX             Its approach is "KPI"             Alfabet is rooted in IT and reaches ‘up’ to business             ARIS    - From the same group as Alfabet (Software AG), does the same thing, again the direction of approach just opposite to Alfabet           - The ARIS product family is rooted in business activities and reaches ‘down’ to IT           - Its main focus point is processes, processing modelling/designing, mining etc.           - Its flavour is Business Process Analysis
The interoperability exists between ARIS and Alfabet. But both are heavier modules, not light weight compared to Essential.All needs architects/designers/business analysts really work on the tool as designers to get the desired output.
